Precare

You will get much better results when you properly prep. It all starts with a good canvas! The procedure area must be healthy, strong, non-sensitive and non-irritated. Here’s how to get your skin ready for the procedure:

3 weeks prior, NO: 

  • botox or other invasive treatments around area

2 weeks prior, NO: 

  • tan or have sunburned face/skin any type of facial

1 week prior, NO:

  • picking/tweezing/waxing/perform electrolysis around procedure area
  • Retinol products
  • Fish Oil or Vitamin E (natural blood thinners)

3 days prior, NO:

  • tinting your eyebrows

Day of procedure, NO:

  • working out
  • contact lenses for eyeliner procedures

In order to avoid excessive bleeding and poor color deposit – AVOID:

  • drinking alcohol 24 – 48 hours before your tattoo
  • consuming coffee or any caffeine before your procedure
  • Taking an aspirin or ibuprofen for pain relief (this thins the blood

Recommendations

  • to not schedule any social events around procedure for 2 days after and any big events for 2 weeks after
  • remove lash extensions prior to eyeliner procedures to not mess up your lash investment as there will be pigment, possible lymph/blood, cleansing, wiping, and eye rinsing during the procedure
  • for safety precautions, it is recommended you arrange for someone to drive you home after eyeliner procedure

Aftercare

For the next 7-10 days, avoid: 

  • sun tanning, swimming or excessive sweating.
  • soap, moisturizer, make-up, creams or sunscreen on the procedure area.
  • gardening activities and contact with animals at the procedure site for 7-10 days (until healed)
  • rubbing or picking at the dry flaky skin/scab.
  • touching the treated area unless it is for cleansing purposes.

What you will notice in the next 7-10 days: 

  • Redness is normal for the first few days. To relieve the swelling, you can ice the area with soft gel ice. Never put ice directly on procedure area.
  • Slight stinging sensation in the first few days is also normal.
  • Procedure area will start to form scabs and they might look dark and thick. As the skin heals, the scabs will fall off in random pieces throughout the brows/eyes/lips and might look patchy throughout the ‘week.
  • Flaking and crusting of the skin may occur.
  • The color will fade approximately 30%-50% when the scabs fall off. This is completely normal. Do not feel discouraged if the fading is more than you expected. The color will become darker 1-2 weeks after ALL the scabs fall off. The size of the brows/eyeliner/lips will also reduce by 1-2mm

Important Instructions for Showering

  • Limit your showers to 5 minutes or the coolest you can handle so that you do not create too much steam.
  • Keep your face/procedure area out of the water while you wash your body, then, at the end of your shower, wash your hair.
  • Your face should only be getting wet at the end of the shower.
  • Avoid excessive rinsing and hot water on the treated area
  • It is very important that you wash the area very gently during the next 7–10 days as it heals
  • Do not rub brows/eyes/lips to dry them, please gently pat dry with a clean cloth or tissue

In addition, for EYELINER procedures:

  • Eyes will feel heavy and frozen for about an hour post procedure. It is recommended you arrange for someone to drive you home after
  • Plan for a touchup session 6-8 weeks after
  • Avoid touching procedure area other than to care for area, washing hands before
  • Sleep on your back, with head elevated
  • Swelling and redness will appear next morning in response to injury
  • If you work the next morning, anticipate to wake up an extra hour early so lymph fluid /swelling around eyes has time to go down
  • Avoid eye makeup and creams for a minimum of 72 hours post procedure
  • Use brand new mascara (72 hours post) & avoid lash curling/extensions for next 2 weeks
  • Wear glasses instead of contacts for next 2 weeks

In addition, for LIP BLUSH procedures:

  • Avoid hot liquids, spicy foods, and activities that cause excessive sweating.

Timeline of what to expect:

  • Day 1: After the lip blushing procedure, expect your lips to be swollen, red, and round. To reduce swelling, apply a cold compress and keep your lips hydrated.
  • Day 2: The lips may appear darker as the skin oxidizes. Swelling should decrease, but your lips may feel drier. Remember to stay hydrated and apply the recommended aftercare ointment or balm.
  • Day 3: Lips may darken further and become drier, with the possibility of cracking for some clients. Hydration is essential during this stage. Use the recommended power balm on your lips for a beautiful healed result. Day 3 is when the lips typically start to exfoliate.
  • Day 4-5: By now, your lips should be mostly exfoliated and healed to the touch.
Recommendations
  • Ointment should be used ONLY if procedure area is dry/tight/itchy. If using ointment, apply a grain size of ointment 2-3 times a day for up to 14 days of recovery.
  • If you have any signs and symptoms of infection, including, but not limited to, redness, swelling, tenderness of the procedure site, red streaks going from the procedure site towards the heart, elevated body temperature, or purulent drainage from the procedure site, seek medical care
